Cuban writer Carlos Alberto Montaner ends his eventful but successful tour in Peru |

July 5, 2005 San Borja, Lima.- From June 30 to July 4, cuban writer Carlos Alberto Montaner was in Lima to present his book "Liberty and its enemies" in a tour organized by Liberal Network of Latin america (Relial) sponsored by Friedrich Naumann foundation and its peruvian partners; Instituto de Libre Empresa, Instituto Político para la Libertad and Instituto de Estudios de la Acción Humana. His first meetings began on july 1st, with liberal youngs of Vanguardia Liberal and IPL's group, to launch Liberal Network of Peru, and to have a lunch with notable peruvian liberals. By afternoon, Montaner had media interviews, in radio and television.
On saturday, cuban writer participated as Vice President of Liberal International at II National Meeting of Libertarian Party of Peru where gave a several recommendations to develop libertarian parties, and urged to take action in order to fill political spaces where liberalism could emerge, for example, install within other parties to go in with ideas and liberal programs.
On the moorning of july 4, Montaner was at the National Congress of Peru in Raul Porras Barrenechea room, where participate Congressmen Jacques Rodrich, Luis Solari de la Fuente, and Anel Townsend to discuss Political Freedom, with José Luis Tapia-Rocha, President of ILE; Yesenia Alvarez, President of IPL and Beltrán Gómez, representative of National Council of Youth.
By the afternoon, a lecture scheduled of cuban writer at National University of San Marcos was prohibited by academic authorities without explanation. Media picked up this fact with big headlines in four newspapers and some comments in Tv program La Hora N.
At night, was launched "Liberty and its enemies" book wrote by Montaner and presented at San Ignacio de Loyola University where participate the Rector Jorge Talavera Traverso; professor Bertford Betalleluz; José Luis Tapia-Rocha, ILE; Yesenia Alvarez, IPL; and Jose Manuel Saavedra, CitPerú. In this academic event, Montaner gives some minutes to Renzo Cánepa, leader of liberal group "Vanguardia Liberal" at San Marcos University in order to inform this regretably fact. The book presentation end with a plaque present from USIL awarded by rector Jorge Talavera.
